Point of View

One thing I have really struggled with is point of view. I've never been on any creative writing course and was never great at English Language at school. I still struggle now when my daughter asks me what a conjunction or an adverb is. So, I've not had a grounding in writing. Maybe it shows. However, the issue I had when I started was POV. One of the first readers of my draft commented they had no idea who the protagonist was. I was taking in multiple points of view at the same time. I have four protagonists, and I was undecided as to who was the main one. It would be a bit like Harry, Ron and Hermione, but you weren't sure who the main character was. The Harry Potter books are told from Harry's POV, sometimes Hermione's but never Ron's. Even though Ron is a central player, this really took some time to address.
I still have multiple points of view, but not generally in the same chapter. I think it's great to get a POV from all the main characters at some point, especially when you have multiple streams of narrative that need to conjoin at some point. It's a learning curve, but I'm getting there.
