Delays Delays Delays

I thought I was ready. Cover was done. Book was edited to nth degree. KDP page was all filled in ready to go. All I needed was an ISBN. That's when problems started. I bought the ISBN, but I didn't realise it was a separate process to actually register your book against one of the numbers. You have to apply on another website and then wait ten days. That was the first delay. Next I was reading some blogs from another author and that was when I discovered the issue with my cover. That was the second delay. Next I want to get my book onto Goodreads, but to do that you need to join the author program. However to do that you need to first register a book....eerrrmmm. Feels like a vicious circle. I managed to find out that you can add a book to Goodreads that is not yet published as long as it is scheduled on KDP. Thing is I cannot schedule it yet as I need a cover and I need access to the ISBN Title Editor. I also want to get on to Ingram Spark but that seems to have a different process than KDP , different formatting etc and you cannot start setting it up like you can on KDP. You need all the bits and pieces ready to go.
The long and short of it is that I am now in a limbo state where I cannot publish until I get these bits sorted. I need all the pieces to come together. It just feels incredibly frustrating. It is now two years since I finished the first book. Yet, trying to get a publisher or agent to accept it, is such a time consuming process. Now I have all these additional delays trying to self publish.
I am hoping for a May release. Fingers crossed.
