Momentary heart in the mouth

I was driving home yesterday. My phone was in the holder next to the steering wheel, directing me home. Suddenly, the phone beeped, and a notification popped up on the screen.
"Many thanks for submitting your work..." 
I couldn't see anymore, and the notification soon vanished. I'd given up hope on hearing back from anyone else. Surely this was a sign. 
I then had a challenging 45-minute drive during which I could not check my email. Was it a rejection or, finally, a request to read more? Needless to say, during that journey, visions of book launches in Waterstones and the Netflix series started their usual whirl around my brain.
So...what was it? I hear you ask?

'I'm sorry to say it is not quite right for our list.'

Damn!
Well, at least for a short period, I was excited. Now, I'm back to waiting for my cover so I can finally publish.
