Rejection! Funnily enough, it didn’t sting. I expected it. My wife said I was being negative. She said I needed to manifest it. Tried that. More rejections followed.

I waited six months. Some publishers never even bothered to reply.

I started to doubt if the book was good enough. I felt the story really had an exciting edge. I’d written it in a style that I liked to read. Lots of action. Lots of pertinent dialogue. But I began to wonder if the first three chapters were not providing the hook. So I revisited them. Instead of a slow build-up and gradual introduction of the characters, I dropped the reader right into the action, then weaved character introductions back in as flashbacks.

I hope it works.
