Nervous excitement

Even though I've been getting close to releasing my first novel, I haven't gotten excited about it. It's been such a long process. I feel like I finished the book months ago, it might even be over a year now, but I've had to wait for responses from publishers and agents. Wait for the cover designers and other agencies to get back to me. So, with all the delay, it's funny what the one thing that actually made me physically jump up and down like an excited school boy was.
As part of the release process, I found an author and critic on X who regularly posts all new Indie novels on a monthly basis. His criteria are that you must have a cover and you must be on Goodreads. All my research said that Goodreads can take ages to add new books or authorise you as an author. So, I set my release date to the 4th August in anticipation of a long process. So, imagine my surprise when only a day after my submission, one of the GoodReads administrators got back to me. I read the email, squealed in delight and then started hopping up and down. It was the final piece in the jigsaw. I was able to advance my release date.
